Summer Blog: Caddie Scholar Retblatt Interns with CSF

Editor's note: This summer, Caddie Scholar Josh Retblatt is interning with the MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund. He will be posting blog entries throughout the summer chronicling his experiences before heading back to school in the fall.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 20, 2025) - The summer has started and so has my internship with the Metropolitan Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund (MGACSF), covering far more ground than just golf. Through the game of golf, the Fund combines community, opportunity, and character development. Arriving here, I knew I would be involved in something significant, but I had no idea how quickly I would feel part of the mission.

I have also officially seen both sides of the spectrum. I am a current scholarship recipient and am now working with the team that is helping me navigate my studies at Indiana University, where I am pursuing a degree in sport marketing and management.

I have already begun working on several special projects designed to hone key professional skills, including accountability, leadership, and teamwork. Whether that’s creating and sending a mailer to alumni to push signups for our upcoming reunion event, or even creating LinkedIn marketing plans, I was quick to the task and handled it professionally. They call for thought, preparation, and teamwork with others all around the company. Taking responsibility for some areas while learning how to negotiate various working styles and expectations has been demanding and rewarding.

Along with these projects, I have jumped into ongoing projects where I have been able to help by developing strategic plans and feasible timelines for future events. Time management and clear communication are of utmost importance in maintaining accurate scheduling, whether that involves updating alumni contact information, planning event arrangements, or generating ideas for alumni involvement.

What I appreciate most so far is how open the team has been to my input. Even though I’m an intern, I’ve felt encouraged to speak up, share ideas, and take responsibility. It’s a fast-paced environment, but one that’s incredibly supportive. That combination is already making this internship a great learning experience.

Expanding my role, diving deeper into the mission, and personal and professional development excites me as I settle in here at MGACSF. There is much more to come, and I am eager to share every step of the road.
