MGACSF Alums reconnect with The Fund to give back
ELSMFORD, N.Y. – A pair of MGACSF recent alumni have made it a point to reconnect with The Fund to give back and promote its mission.
Justin Hanratty, a former caddie at Westchester Hills Golf Club, and Alonso Barrantes, a former caddie at Siwanoy Country Club, plan to speak at this year's annual Friends of the Fund outing at GlenArbor Golf Club.
"I think giving back to the program is amazing," Hanratty said. "It's definitely something that I'm looking forward to continuing to do."
Hanratty was awarded a scholarship in 2019 before attending Coastal Carolina University, where he spent some time working at The Dunes course in Myrtle Beach. He mentioned that opportunity stemmed from his work caddieing back in the Met Area. Today, he recognizes the value of those opportunities and wants to pay it forward.
"It's a great opportunity to either get back into golf and see the connections and the networking opportunities that you're able to make," he said of getting more involved with The Fund.
Similarly, Barrantes is compelled to be involved because of how the scholarship changed his perspective on the game.
"It showed me that the people at these clubs and involved in this sport care," he said. They love giving back to others."
Barrantes was awarded a scholarship in 2020. He attended Liberty University and, alongside his brother, became the first members of their family to attend college in the United States.
"It was a huge deal for myself and family," he added.
The Fund is proud to have supported both Barrantes and Hanratty's journeys and look forward to hearing them share firsthand how those experiences impacted their lives. Their involvement is a testament The Fund's impact and our alumni's desire to give back to the next generation.
