Edwin B. Howard Jr. Named Udo Reinach Award Winner

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (July 18, 2023) – Earlier this year, the Metropolitan Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund (MGACSF) awarded its Udo Reinach Award of Distinction to Mr. Edwin B. Howard, Jr. at the Fund’s annual Kick-Off Meeting.

Other individual winners included Joe Pica, who was awarded the Outstanding Service Award for the Caddie Programs, and Edward Nolan ’67 and Thomas Ryan ’60, who were recipients of the 2023 Sally Francis Alumni Award.

The Udo Reinach Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service and support of the Fund in the form of time, impact, or contributions. Past winners of the award are Alan T. Nahoum (2022) and Joe Pica (2021). Reinach was one of the co-founders of the CSF in 1956 along with Willie Turnesa.

Ed’s long-time support of the Fund through his directorship, event participation, and generous patronage of the endowed program has been a lifelong commitment. Ed became the CSF Director from the Scarsdale Golf Club in 2011, and the club’s annual contribution to the Bag Tag program increased by 34-percent under his leadership. Ed has been determined to strengthen the Fund’s impact on the community and his effort and advocacy will be felt for generations of caddie scholars to come.

The Howard Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 to award the first scholarship recipient for the 2024-25 academic year. Awards can be made to any CSF scholar with a demonstrable need, with special consideration given to caddies and those in service to golf from Scarsdale Golf Club.
