2022 Marathon Breaks Fundraising Record

UPDATE: The 2022 Golf Marathon has broken the fundraising record set last year at Waccabuc Country Club. Currently the marathon at Shorehaven has amassed over $225,000 in support of the fund. Last year’s total came in at just over $223,000, which was a record as well. The total from the 2022 marathon is still funneling in, with the expectation that it will still rise before a final tally is announced.

On Monday, the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund held its annual Golf Marathon at Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, CT. Shorehaven, which has hosted the CSF Marathon before, was a tremendous host for the event. The field featured 48 golfers, making it one of the largest fields in event history.

“The Golf Marathon is hands down the best day on the WGACSF Calendar,” said Manager of Caddie Scholarship Funds, Jackie Kielty. “There are several factors that make the Marathon incredible, such as, the tremendous grass roots fundraising and the resilient and excessive rounds of golf. But most importantly, it’s the sense of community between the players. It is an exciting mix of Club members, Caddie Managers and Alumni that all come together to bring the Marathon to life.”

In total, 2,796 holes were played from 8 am thru 5 pm, setting a record for most holes played in a single WGACSF Golf Marathon. A breakdown of how each team finished is listed below:

“I am so deeply inspired by our players ambition and passion for the Fund,” said Kielty. “There is an overwhelming sense of gratitude that we feel, for all of the people that generously support us not only with donations, but with their time, energy and advocacy. We are so proud of our community and the impact we have on the lives of our caddie scholars. These players truly are changing the world one swing at a time.”

Joe Pica of Shorehaven raised over $123,000 this year, setting a record for most money raised by an individual. He broke his old record of $93,000, which he set last year. Rob Lupica played this most holes at this year’s marathon, with 122. He was one of four golfers to play over 100 holes.
