7th Annual Friends of the Fund Recap
The 7th Annual Friends of the Fund at Hudson National was a huge success. 48 golfers took to the picturesque course for a great round of golf. The Friends of the Fund event was conceived with the mission of making new friends and introducing them to the important work of the Caddie Scholarship Fund.
“This event—at a special club–is a special way to wind down the golf season. Old friends, many of whom have been participating since the inception of the event, have introduced new friends to us nearly every year. In turn, those new friends bring their new friends to subsequent events!” -jg
The morning started with lunch on the back terrace for the entire field. After that, the groups headed out to the course for a shotgun start. Always a beautiful course, Hudson National showed its teeth during Thursday’s round with wind gusts regularly around 30 miles per hour.
Despite the blustery conditions, there were still some solid scores in the best ball, two-person team format. Prizes were awarded for low net and low gross scores.
In the net competition, Jeff Jackson and David Haffenreffer grabbed third with a score of 6-under. Michael Connors Sr. and Pat Diggins won the tiebreaker and took second with a score of 6-under as well. The victory went to Bob Campbell and Paul Roberts who put together an impressive 7-under round.
In the gross competition, Ben Kirschenbaum and Andy Feldman took third at 2-over. Bill Collins and Chris DeForest tied for the low score at 3-under but were edge in the tiebreaker and took second. With a score of 3-under as well, Pat DePippot and Colin Dolph grabbed first place.
Post round, the golfers enjoyed a terrific spread provided by Hudson National’s staff and some drinks provided by cocktail sponsors Gray Whale Gin and Redemption Rye Whiskey.
Once again Friends of the Fund provided a great setting for golf and a great day to celebrate all those who provide current and future support the WGACSF and the deserving caddie scholarship recipients
