ELMSFORD, N.Y. – MGACSF alum Peyton Langguth is making the most of his opportunities at SUNY Maritime College, where he serves as a Cadet in the college's Regiment of Cadets.
Recently, Peyton was among 16 students who represented SUNY Maritime at the inaugural SUNY Maritime Day at the New York State Capitol, celebrating the college's educational opportunities and its impact on New York's maritime industry.
"Caddieing taught me the importance of discipline, responsibility, hard work, patience, and adapting to different situations and personalities," Langguth said. "Those lessons became especially valuable when I began my journey as a cadet."
Langguth caddied at Tamarack Country Club and was named a Caddie Scholars recipient in 2025 while at Iona Prep.
"Living and working aboard a ship, putting in long hours, handling demanding responsibilities, and spending extended periods of time in close quarters with the same group of people requires a strong work ethic, patience, teamwork, and mental toughness," he added. "Much like caddieing, you learn the importance of being dependable, anticipating needs, paying attention to detail, and maintaining a positive attitude even when you're tired or facing challenging circumstances. Both experiences teach you that the job doesn't stop just because you're having a difficult day, and that the people around you depend on you to do your part."
The Fund is excited to see Peyton continuing to grow as a student and leader. The MGACSF is proud to support Caddie Scholars as they pursue their education and build their futures in a variety of fields.
