Tyler Lanza knew he needed birdie on the last hole at Rye Golf Club to qualify for the 66th Ike Championship. That’s exactly what he got. The CSF Alumnus drained a four-footer to push himself into the field, which will compete at The Bridge on June 28th and 29th.

“I knew I hit a decent drive and then I put myself in the middle of the green with my seven iron,” said Lanza. “After that I was able to two-putt and it was just a big sigh of relief when the last putt went in.”

Lanza has been playing plenty of golf recently, as he just competed in the Final Qualifying stage for the 2021 US Open. Though Lanza didn’t qualify for the Championship at Torrey Pines he still put together a strong 36-hole effort. Lanza is a recent graduate of Concordia College, where he played on the golf team.

“I will cherish those moments forever,” said Lanza. “We made regionals three times and also made it to nationals once. I met some incredible people and learned so much during my years there.”

Lanza graduated in 2019 and spent last year as an Assistant Coach for the Concordia golf team. He has also spent the last seven years as a caddie and part of the outside operations staff at GlenArbor.
Lanza says he is excited to get out and see The Bridge in tournament condition. He also credited the CSF Scholarship he received for a lot of his success.

“Getting a WGACSF scholarship assisted me in getting a college education and it also opened alot of doors for me in the golfing community,” said Lanza.

The Ike will be held on June 28th-29th, with Lanza looking to compete for the top spot.
